The american airline Delta published the opening of 3 new direct routes from the US to Mexico, including 2 direct flights to Cancun airport, starting on december 17th, 2016.

According to a communicate by Delta, these routes will be the first launches since the Open Skies Agreement was signed between Mexico and the US. Delta's director in Mexico, Carlos E. Hernandez, showed his appreciation towards both governments and said this makes a precedent for the expansion of the market between and past these borders.

The flight from New York to Cancun will be assigned to a Boeing 737-900 vessel, for 180 passengers, from John F. Kennedy airport where Delta has more than 500 takeoffs a day. At the same time, with Aeromexico as SkyTeam partner, there are connections made from New York to Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and now Cancun.

The Kansas City to Cancun flight will be done on a MD-88 149 passenger plane.

Even as flights only beginning from December 17th, all reservations are available since August 20, 2016.
